Millwork is Moving

The fireplace just keeps getting better.  Upstairs window trim is done and he started on the downstairs windows today.  There's a  big rebar grid out front.  The plan is to pour the week after next.

Lookin' Curvy

They started on the concrete forms today.  I like the curvy front.  The scratch coat is finished on the inside fireplace and they started setting stone.  The two problem cabinets are removed and back with the manufacturer.  The builder isn't willing to bump the counter install date, so some quick magic needs to happen to get the corrected cabinets back in place before next Tuesday.  Still waiting to hear how they're going to address the issues with the painted cabinets.

He's Back!

Gary the stone guy is back!  The cabinets and mantel are wrapped up, and the metal lath is on.  Eeeee!

In not so exciting news, two cabinets need to be replaced, which may push out our counter install date.  And we're not happy with the finish on some of the cabinets...and neither is the builder.  Never a dull moment!

This ultra recessed toe kick should wrap the corner.  Then feet go on so it looks like a piece of furniture, but we don't have to clean dust bunnies out from under it.  Two bath vanities need to be fixed.  Ugh.

Oh Dolomite...I Missed You

Ahh!  Stressful morning but the templates are laid out on the slabs.  Can't wait to see them in the house!

Kitchen Island - They'll take 12" off the top and trim the rest
The left two are the sink wall; the right pieces go to the left of the range and the left of the fridge.
Top piece is for the laundry sink wall; Maya's bath; Kitchen to the right of the range is the bottom piece.
Pantry office (ignore the tape it isn't a seam...that took me 10 stressful minutes to sort out;  the piece on the right is the rest of the laundry counter
There she is!  Boys' bath and our bath in the dolomite we fell in love with months ago.  The fabricator commented that it's a beautiful slab.
Viv's bath and the curb and ledge surface in our shower.

Templating Day

We finally got a good look at the slate floors.  They'll eventually be a charcoal gray once the dust is gone.  I really like how it runs at a diagonal in part of the powder bath due to the bend in the house.  The grading out front looks great too.

They measured for countertops today.  That's why the laundry sink is temporarily in place.  Tomorrow I have to watch my email like a hawk because they're laying the templates on the slabs and I asked to be involved.  So they'll send me photos and I'll make sure it's what we want.

Grout & Grading

We didn't catch enough daylight to get good exterior pics but maybe tomorrow.

Wet Tile, So...

Vladimir (the tiler) offered to let me in the back after he saw me looking in windows like a home improvement peeping tom.  But I didn't want to slow him down.  I opted to peek in the doorway instead.  It's dusty but there's slate down in the laundry, mudroom and powder bath.  And we have some pretty dispersion trenches out back.

Big Start This Week

So much happened today!  More cabinets are installed. More tile is cut, including the tile baseboard trim.  Viv's shower is finished and they've started on the laundry/mudroom slate floor.  And the final grading and drainage kicked off today.
