One Post Down...
Everyone is taking a much deserved long weekend off. Which means we can sneak over and do things! Fence post #1 is in. Only 72 more to go. 🤣
They set the generator in place yesterday. It should be wired in next week.

Countertops Are In...Again
The new counters have been installed in the bathrooms. I'm so focused on making sure the sinks are in the correct place and there's no cracks that I haven't taken in the new stone. But I think it looks nice.
Flooring is done for the most part. The stair landing and bottom few steps can't be finished because they're waiting for materials. But it isn't holding anything up for now.
Crown is up in the kitchen and a few other places. It finishes it off nicely.
We REALLY need dry weather so they can pour the concrete. We also need the rest of our interior doors to arrive so the finish carpenter has what he needs to stay busy. Let's hope things fall into place next week.

Late Night
Based on the photos I sent, the plan is to build an entirely new hood rather than try to fix this one. So sad. But we'll be put in the front of the production line and they'll try to get us a new hood as quickly as possible. No firm timeline yet. But the builder can work around not having the hood for now. It's not ideal, but not a project stalling issue.
The poor flooring guy is still there, and plans to stay until our floors are done tonight. He has another job to go to tomorrow, so he's working late to finish ours. Really nice guy.
The finish carpenter worked on trim under cabinets today. And our replacement vanity counters are being installed tomorrow. Fingers crossed there's no cracking or drilling mishaps. No more jobsite drama!

Bye Bye Cabinet Doors
The hallway, study, and entry have flooring. He was working on the entry closet when we stopped by. Otherwise it's just the hallway leading to the office and the office itself left to finish off the main floor. Still love the flooring.
The cabinet company hauled out all the doors that need to be re-done. It's a lot. But mistakes happen and they're going to make it right.
Two shed kits arrived today. One will go in the garden and the other is temporary storage until we get a shop built.
I keep striking out on finding a slab to replace the two pieces in the kitchen they messed up when drilling. Either they're already taken, or don't match the rest of the kitchen. And new supply is dependent on shipping containers...need I say more. I don't want to switch it for something that doesn't match as well, or isn't as pretty. We may keep what we have and learn to ignore the cracks. They're tiny, so that's good I suppose.
And there is a 480lb crate with our 200lb range hood inside, on it's way to WA! Can't wait to see it!

Flooring Friday
It's here! We couldn't help ourselves and popped open a box tonight. It's really going to warm the place up and make it feel cozy.
And I had luck finding a replacement countertop material for the vanities. It's on hold for now. Still trying to find a replacement slab for part of the kitchen and that isn't going so well. But I'm going to keep at it.

Masonry Mood Lift
Phone rings-
Builder: The fireplace is incredible.
Me: Uh oh. Why are you leading with the good stuff? 😆
It's been a heck of a week. Three countertops are out. One due to installation error, one due to fabricator error, and the third due to problems with the stone itself. So I'm due for another trip to Seattle for new slabs. And we have to decide if a problem in the kitchen is worth ripping out or keeping. Ugh.
He's right though. The fireplace is something else. And most of the remaining countertops aren't too shabby either.

Not As Fun As I Thought
It's been a rollercoaster of a day. We have counters...sort of. Our vanity top isn't going to work due to cracking. The boys' vanity top was cut wrong and needs to be redone. That means that beautiful slab of Dolomite we fell in love with months ago and worked so hard to get is gone and won't be in the house. I haven't spoken with the installer yet but I think I'll be headed back to Seattle to try to find a replacement. And I have questions about some of the holes that were drilled for faucets. Jeremy is too swamped at work to even see the countertops. Not quite the day I'd hoped it would be.
On the plus side, the fireplace rock and mortar is finished. I'm hoping they clear away some of the protection and scaffolding soon so we can see it. And it's always better once the mortar dries to a lighter color.
