Mirror, Mirror...

I bought this mirror in September 2020, so waaay before we had interior finishes selected.   I thought maybe we'd use it in a bathroom, but we never did.  It ended up being the perfect size, shape, and finish for the entry though!

WE'RE PENDING!!!

Three offers came in today for the old house. We've accepted one and have a signed agreement with the 2nd best offer as a backup! Our agent did a fabulous job. All afternoon we watched the price creep higher and higher over the list price. The buyer has waived most contingencies so it should be smooth sailing, however we won't be in full celebration mode until it's a done deal. But Evan made brownies and Viv made a cake, so we're set for celebratory desserts. 🤣 Set to close April 26th with buyer #1 all goes well! The camellia blooming was a bonus.

Grab the Towels

I'd love to say we're settled and mostly unpacked, but that isn't the case. We're not even close. Part of the problem is we still don't have closet shelving, so there's a lot that can't be put away yet. The other problem is the nice weather. It's luring us outdoors, where we also feel pressure to get bulbs and plants in the ground as soon as possible. So much to do inside and out.

I finally found our supply of extra towels today, which was a nice surprise. They would have come in handy over the weekend. Something failed with a hose bib and if you turn it on, the pantry floods. A bit of a problem! We won't know until the plumber comes out whether they have to cut a hole in the wall to fix it or if they can do it from outside, but it'll be taken care of either way.

We've finished putting stone steps through a few beds.

Blueberry hedge going in and stone path in progress.

Art is up in the movie room.  Still waiting for couch end pieces.

Art in our bathroom.

Finally have extra towels!

Almost There

Our old home goes on the market tomorrow.  That should mean we can finally put our energy toward settling in here.  It's still a sea of boxes.  But we've made some progress.  It's nice to have a finished space to go to at the end of a long day.

Still Stumbling Around

The days are a blur, but it feels like we've turned a corner.  Our previous home goes on the market in one week.  We have a lot to do before then, but it feels like we'll meet the deadlines in place.

The cost of meeting those deadlines is we aren't settled in our new home.  But we've tried to unpack a few kitchen boxes each day.  And the fence is almost dog proofed so our pups can rejoin us.

I'm trying to accomplish one "fun" task each evening, no matter how late.  Last night was hanging some art in Maya's bathroom and getting her shower curtain rod installed.  The night before was unpacking some books in the kids' loft nook.  Not sure what tonight's project will be.

Ooof

Final inspection passed! Our new home is complete as far as King County is concerned. We're celebrating with a Clue movie night while we do some unpacking.

Jeremy and I haven't been this worn out in a long time. We're beat. We packed in such a rush that we can't find some things.  But there's something fun about random unpacking.  Like jumping on a pogo stick while wearing a life jacket.  Really looking forward to finding the box with our kitchen knives eventually. 🤣

We're Here!

We're here!  We've reached a new level of tired.  The movers arrived first thing today, which felt extra early with "spring forward".  We hauled two full truck and trailer loads, plus a car full, plus the moving truck full.  The movers were great and I'm so glad we had help with the remaining heavy items.

First night tonight!  Most of our belongings are in boxes.  Chaos!

Last Night

Nice to have one simple, finished thing to look at in the middle of all this chaos.  Movers arrive first thing tomorrow to help with the heaviest items.  Last night of sleep in our current home is tonight!

We Have Keys!

Asphalt is done!  But the even bigger news is our septic As-Built has been approved by Public Health.  That's a big milestone and clears the way for final steps.

Painters are wrapping up the exterior today, but may have touch ups next week.  The stair rail will be finished Monday.  Final inspection will be Tuesday.

Stair Railing...Finally

Stair railing! They have a few things to wrap up tomorrow but it's mostly installed. I'm so glad we rejected the first railing and waited for what we wanted.

The trampoline is moved. The couch mismatched ends are on their way back. Plumbing final inspection passed today. Exterior paint wrap up starts tomorrow. Asphalt happens Friday. Packing, purging, hauling...it's hectic around here. The builder said he's never had homeowners move so quickly. I reminded him I'm a "get stuff done" type person. 🙂

5 Days Until Movers

I had help from Nevada today! ❤ We assembled a bunch of stuff and all the perimeter gates are installed.  And two more loads made it over this morning and evening.

Still at It

Very random day of getting stuff done. Hauled multiple loads to the house. Picked up the stone pavers for a project out back (my tired arms are even more tired). Set the flagstone pavers in sand to finish the walkway so I can install the gate. (Again...bad project choice for tired arms). Hung up some humor in the powder bath. And Jeremy is working on installing the tv in the family room tonight.

My first time setting flagstone but it'll do.
24" square basalt pavers for a patio out back.
The left fence has poly mesh, the right doesn't (yet).  Not too visible from a distance at least.
Entry bench made from a piece of the old shed.
The beginning of Evan's room.
Powder bath art.

Moving Day Two

Moving Day 2 (A.K.A. Clandestine Swingset Move Day): When I was pitching this idea of how to move the swingset without taking it apart, Jeremy was skeptical. Rightfully so. My "we can move it like a giant letter V" sales pitch wasn't cutting it. But we were so tired by the end of the day he agreed to give it a try. And it worked! Was it legal? Most likely not. But it made it! I'll take a pic of it in it's new home tomorrow.

We've had two trailers and two vehicles running back and forth all day long. We're exhausted. But we're making good progress. And the painters finished off around the front door.

Moving Day One

Day 1: We should be moving and not unpacking AT ALL. But we can't seem to help ourselves! We've been waiting for this day for so long and opening up boxes of things we've had tucked away is fun.

More fence rail progress today. We learned the driveway asphalt is happening Tuesday. Busy weekend and week ahead!
