Saturday Surprise
I love weekend surprises at the jobsite! The last cabinets arrived. They appear to be some of our special cabinets, like the microwave/wall oven cabinet and the two-tone open shelving for the laundry room. And bonus, there's now a stack of millwork in the garage too.

There's Tile!
There's tile on the walls! And they did a beautiful job too. The way they wrapped the corners and how the niche lines up with the rows...it's nicely done. The downstairs hower is nice and bright.
The rest of our shower tile arrived and is stacked in the garage. The 2x2 tile will be for the shower floors. The darker tile is the walls.
Construction of the long rock wall begins Monday, but they already have a machine on-site. Once they're done, the excavator will come back to do the final grading of the yard. That will be finished in the next two weeks.
Cabinet install begins Monday too. They'll start with the bathroom vanities so the tiler can get going on the bathroom floors.
The house is about to really change. And the leaves are changing too!

Shower Progress
After seeing pretty cabinets, the shower progress is kind of blah. But they got a lot done! I think I'm just anxious to see tile on these floors and walls.
Now We REALLY REALLY Have Cabinets!
The final eight cabinets will arrive Saturday but otherwise they're here.
Of all the decisions we've made, I was most nervous about the cabinet stain color. But I like it! It's a warm brown without any red or gold undertones thanks to the gray in it. And they look great with the bathroom floor tile.
Yes, the door style is wrong. It's still up in the air what happens next. But a plain shaker door is simple and beautiful, so I've already told the builder we may be fine with keeping the doors.
Install starts Monday. Countertop templating is Thursday. Yes...that's 3 days to get all the base cabinets in that need countertops. But I've been told they have a crew coming and it'll get done in time.
And the tilers are moving! I met them this morning to finalize shower niche locations. Nice family crew and I think they'll do a great job.

We Have (Some) Cabinets!
We have cabinets! Not all of them but maybe a third or so. This delivery was only painted cabinets...so our island, office nook, study, and laundry. More are coming tomorrow. The lighting isn't great in the room they're in, but they look nice.
I was so nervous about the green in the laundry room but I love it! Can't wait to see them installed. I'm most nervous about the stain color we picked. I guess we'll find out whether we like them tomorrow.
And we have tile! They were still busy working on the showers tonight so no pics. We're deciding where the shower niches go tomorrow. Exciting to have finish materials in the house!

Utilities Aren't Glamorous...
...but they're important!
The septic tanks and drainfield area were backfilled! Next step is final grading of the yard, which might happen this week. Then they can prep for concrete out front.
Cabinets start arriving this week and they should begin installation shortly after. Nervous and excited to see them!
And since you're all probably tired of me posting photos of dirt, here's our pretty kitchen backsplash tile. 🙂

We Have Slabs
Goodness this took so many trips to Seattle to figure out and is a relief to check it off our list! We'd chosen a granite months ago, but the current inventory was very brown/gold, so we had to start over. But we'd already chosen a sink color and backsplash tile, so the new counter had to work with both. Templating for the countertops happens 2 weeks from today, and the fabricator needs the slabs in their shop in Woodinville by that date, so we were running out of time to make a decision. Pressure!
This is a polished quartzite, very durable. It will be in the kitchen, office nook, laundry, and a downstairs bath. We opted to go with this in the laundry and bath instead of the limestone we'd put on hold last week because it's a tougher material and better color for those cabinets. These 4 slabs aren't sequential, but the coloring works and it looks great with our cabinets and backsplash tile. Done!
