Framing Week 3 Day 1

We have more walls!  The kitchen, dining room, and office nook exterior walls were framed today along with other walls on the side and front of the house near the garage.  That means almost all of the walls along the back of the house have been framed except for the tall great room wall.  And studs are staged for the study and entry walls along the front of the house.  The lumber is BEAUTIFUL...nice and straight, and the framing looks well done.  I love seeing the openings for the windows and doors, but it'll be even better to get a feel for their size once the walls are in place.  Pretty soon they'll run out of floor space for keeping these walls horizontal.  I hope that means they'll be tipping them upright before the end of the week.

Decisions today included a bedroom ceiling decision, kitchen window sill height, and a warning that we need to choose between a wood burning or gas fireplace in the living room soon.  We also learned we can scoot the fireplace toward the back of the house a bit to allow the cabinets on either side to be the same width.  We've been struggling to figure out what to do for a while and the answer was so simple...move the fireplace!
