Not Glamorous, But It's Progress

It wasn't a big day visually, but stuff got done.  The siding guy came to wrap up a few pending items, like the trim around the back garage door and the band boards above the concrete patio out back.  We've been asked to finalize our exterior paint picks because they plan to paint in September.  Yay!  But that means dirt work and the front concrete need to happen soon.
The builder is starting to clean up and screw down the floor in anticipation of cabinets arriving late this week and early next week.  We finalized our lighting order today, and figured out what height the wood mantel should be installled in the family room.  Still lots more homework on our list, but we're getting through it.

Patio Fireplace Is Almost Done

Wow!  Just needs a seat and the lids/tops to the two tiers.  The mortar lines look too dark right now because they're still wet.  But even with the dark joints, it looks great.  Guess where they're starting next?

Raw Urth

It was a quiet day at the site, so I'm sharing something special we've been working on.

When we first met to discuss our kitchen design, the experts agreed that the range hood would be the focal point of our kitchen.  Which meant we needed to get it right!  We wanted the house to have character and this seemed like a good opportunity to do something unique.  We got the green light from our builder to acquire the range hood on our own, not through the cabinet company.  Lots of research led us to Raw Urth in Colorado, a small company that makes beautiful custom steel range hoods.  Here are our design sketches, the metal finish we chose, and a picture of a similar hood.  We're excited to see this in the kitchen someday.

Hearth

They built the raised hearth!  It's really starting to look like something now.

Now We're Getting Somewhere!

Eeee!  We have garage doors!  I think they fit the house perfectly.  I'm liking the openers on the side and loving the motion sensor lights inside.

And the paint!  I love the color!  Agreeable Gray was the right pick.

Bonus...more stone went up plus they finished off the existing lower stone.  It looks really nice.

I had a sink fiasco to deal with this afternoon and not much time to find a plan b for the laundry room.  The progress today made up for the earlier stress!

Whoooo Primed the House?

More stone progress!  Jeremy pointed out that things are moving a lot quicker now that they're working at ground level.

We have pretty white primed walls and buckets of Agreeable Gray waiting to go.  And I got the impression we may have garage doors soon.

Also, I had a little helper overseeing my rock wall measuring tonight.

Lots of Stone Today

No interior paint today, but lots of stone went up!  And our cabinet layout is finalized.  No more agonizing over those details.

Return to Progress

We had about 5 minutes tonight to check out the primed and textured walls and the fireplace progress that happened while we were gone.  It's still wet, but looks great.

This coming week while the interior walls are being painted, our cabinets will be built.  They'll be delivered the following week, Aug 30-Sept 3.

Our move-in date is going to be a little later than we hoped.  The most recent completion date is the 2nd week of January or sooner.  We were hoping for a 2021 move for Jeremy's vacation accrual purposes, but it's not a big deal.  We're happy the house is being built well and it'll be done when it's done.

Intermission

We took a much needed getaway to do fun stuff like this.  But as soon as our cell signal was back, I was answering cabinet questions.  And 3 more calls today so far.  Back to work!
