They're Baaaaaack!

Ahh!  The painters came back this morning!  The new trim color is still wet but we like it so much better already.  And the back porch body has paint now.

Countertops Are In...Again

The new counters have been installed in the bathrooms.  I'm so focused on making sure the sinks are in the correct place and there's no cracks that I haven't taken in the new stone.  But I think it looks nice.

Flooring is done for the most part.  The stair landing and bottom few steps can't be finished because they're waiting for materials.  But it isn't holding anything up for now.

Crown is up in the kitchen and a few other places.  It finishes it off nicely.

We REALLY need dry weather so they can pour the concrete.  We also need the rest of our interior doors to arrive so the finish carpenter has what he needs to stay busy.  Let's hope things fall into place next week.

Late Night

Based on the photos I sent, the plan is to build an entirely new hood rather than try to fix this one.  So sad.  But we'll be put in the front of the production line and they'll try to get us a new hood as quickly as possible.  No firm timeline yet.  But the builder can work around not having the hood for now.  It's not ideal, but not a project stalling issue.

The poor flooring guy is still there, and plans to stay until our floors are done tonight.  He has another job to go to tomorrow, so he's working late to finish ours.  Really nice guy.

The finish carpenter worked on trim under cabinets today.  And our replacement vanity counters are being installed tomorrow.  Fingers crossed there's no cracking or drilling mishaps.  No more jobsite drama!

Really?

I think I'm still in shock a bit, so forgive this post.  Our range hood was dropped off in a downpour, hole in the crate, and the contents beat to hell.  The company who made the hood said they've never seen a hood arrive so damaged.  Lucky us!  They are filing a claim with the shipper and the hood is going back to Colorado.  So now we wait for news and a timeline.

It really makes me sick.  It's a beautiful hood.  But it's been mishandled so much that several welds snapped and the support bars that mount to the wall are bent.  Fortunately there are shock sensors and tip sensors on the box, all of which have been activated.  So there shouldn't be any question about when the damage occurred.

Flooring is Flying!

Evan's bedroom and closet are finished, and Vivian's bedroom is nearly finished.  Just a couple more rows plus her closet.  Then the upstairs hallway is all that's left!  I expect he'll be finished by Friday no problem.

And a very heavy crate with our range hood inside is arriving tomorrow.  Fingers crossed it made it from Colorado intact.  And we can get it in the house!

Mason's Flooring

The flooring in the loft and Mason's room is finished.  That includes the edging on that part of the stair opening, and all the diagonal pieces in Mason's closet and doorway since the house bends in that area.

I learned the rest of our interior doors will be arriving soon and install will begin shortly after.  Then trim!

Productive Monday

The movie room and most of the loft has flooring.  And we made decisions about how to handle the different angles of flooring coming together up there.  Can't wait to see what he does around the stairs tomorrow.

We tested out the new exterior trim color and gave them the green light.  Not sure when they'll be back but at least there's a plan.

And I finally took a moment to get a wood project off my list.  The metal work is from a shop on Etsy.  The background I made with Bruce's wood.  Seems fitting for our new mudroom.

When All Else Fails...Uhaul

I've been trying to get this bunch of 16' fence lumber to the land and it kept falling through.  Finally we rented a Uhaul and Jeremy grabbed it this morning.  Relief!

And the flooring continues today.  He's almost finished with Maya's room.

Bye Bye Cabinet Doors

The hallway, study, and entry have flooring.  He was working on the entry closet when we stopped by.  Otherwise it's just the hallway leading to Maya's room and her room itself left to finish off the main floor.  Still love the flooring.

The cabinet company hauled out all the doors that need to be re-done.  It's a lot.  But mistakes happen and they're going to make it right.

Two shed kits arrived today.  One will go in the garden and the other is temporary storage until we get a shop built.

I keep striking out on finding a slab to replace the two pieces in the kitchen they messed up when drilling.  Either they're already taken, or don't match the rest of the kitchen.  And new supply is dependent on shipping containers...need I say more.   I don't want to switch it for something that doesn't match as well, or isn't as pretty.  We may keep what we have and learn to ignore the cracks.  They're tiny, so that's good I suppose.

And there is a 480lb crate with our 200lb range hood inside, on it's way to WA!  Can't wait to see it!

Flooring is Moving!

The flooring is moving so fast!  The family room, kitchen, pantry, our bedroom, and most of the long hallway are done.  Also, most of the stairs.  I love the square nose treads.  They really look good with the railing.  All that's left downstairs is the study, entry, and Maya's bedroom, and a bit more hallway.  But he's moving!  The sad part is he covers it as he goes to keep it protected.  Can't wait for the big reveal eventually.  The whole house will get unwrapped at some point.

And another special house item came today.  A man in Federal Way built a custom utensil tray for our kitchen drawer.  Have I said how much I love Etsy?  He did such a nice job.  Packing it away for now.
